Fairfield  /  DUI

Fairfield DUI Attorney.

I defend dui cases in Solano County and have done since 1999. Two cases start the day you are arrested, and only one of them waits for you.

Choosing the best DUI attorney in Fairfield.

If you are looking for a DUI attorney in Fairfield, start with the question that matters most: who will actually be handling your case? I am Chris Parkhurst, Esq. I have been defending cases in Solano County since 1999, and my State Bar number is 203402. You work with us directly rather than with an intake team or a call center.

What that means in practice is straightforward. I read your file before I tell you what I think of it, I explain what it actually supports, and I give you the realistic range of outcomes rather than the encouraging end of it. For the detail on the charge itself, see DUI defense. To find out what happens next in your case, call.

DUI charges I defend.

These are the dui matters I handle for clients in Fairfield and across Solano County.

  • First-offence DUI. The most commonly filed version, and where the licence consequence usually matters most.
  • Second and third offence. Exposure changes once a prior falls inside the washout period.
  • Felony DUI. A fourth offence, a prior felony DUI, or a case where someone was hurt.
  • DUI causing injury. Vehicle Code 23153, chargeable as a misdemeanour or a felony.
  • Chemical test refusal. A refusal carries its own longer licence suspension, separately from the DUI.
  • DUI of drugs. Prescription medication included. There is no per se number, which changes how it is proved.
  • DMV hearings. The administrative case, on a ten-day clock, run separately from the court case.
  • Commercial driver DUI. A commercial licence is reachable by conduct in a personal vehicle.

If your charge is not listed, call me. Working out what you are actually facing is the first useful thing that happens.

What I look at first.

What I examine first in a dui case out of Fairfield:

  • Why the stop happened, and whether the reason given holds up
  • How the field sobriety tests were administered, and in what conditions
  • Whether the breath device was calibrated and maintained on schedule
  • The gap between the time of driving and the time of the test
  • Whether a blood draw was lawful, and whether the sample can still be retested
  • What the report says, against what the footage shows

None of that happens on its own. It happens because somebody asked for it early, while it still existed.

Who arrested you in Fairfield.

Fairfield Police Department. 1000 Webster St, Fairfield, CA 94533. (707) 428-7300.

  • California Highway Patrol. Interstate 80 and Highway 12, which cross in the city and carry very heavy Bay Area traffic.
  • Solano County Sheriff. the unincorporated county and the Suisun Valley area.
  • Travis Air Force Base security forces. the base to the east, which has its own jurisdiction.

Fairfield sits on Interstate 80 between Sacramento and the Bay Area, and that traffic defines its enforcement pattern: a large share of arrests here are freeway stops involving people travelling through. The city is also the county seat, so the criminal court and the District Attorney's office are here. Travis Air Force Base to the east adds a service population with its own separate consequences.

Where a Fairfield case is heard.

A dui case arising in Fairfield is prosecuted by the Solano County District Atty at 675 Texas St #4500, Fairfield, CA 94533 and heard in Solano County. The date and location printed on your citation or release paperwork is the authority rather than anything on this page.

Solano County Criminal Court
530 Union Ave, Fairfield, CA 94533. (707) 207-7380

How this office charges cases and what happens between arrest and arraignment is set at county level. See Solano County.

Areas I serve around Fairfield.

Fairfield is the county seat and sits on the main Bay Area route.

  • Downtown and Texas Street. the civic centre, near the court and the police department.
  • Interstate 80 corridor. the busiest enforcement area, and CHP rather than Fairfield PD.
  • Suisun Valley. unincorporated and Sheriff-policed, with a winery event pattern.
  • Toward Travis Air Force Base. a separate jurisdiction with its own security forces.

I also cover Vacaville, Vallejo, Dixon.

Fairfield questions I hear most.

How long do I have to request a DMV hearing after a Fairfield DUI arrest?

Ten days from the date of arrest. The request is separate from the criminal case, and if it is not made in time the suspension proceeds by default with nobody having examined whether the stop or the test was sound. See licence and DMV matters.

I was charged with two DUI counts from one stop. Why?

Almost every DUI is charged twice, under Vehicle Code 23152(a) for driving while impaired and 23152(b) for a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or more. They are proved differently, which is why a case can be weak on one and strong on the other.

Can a Fairfield DUI be reduced to a wet reckless?

A wet reckless under Vehicle Code 23103.5 exists only as a negotiated outcome from a DUI filing. Whether it is available depends on the evidence, the record and how this District Attorney's office approaches the case.

Is there a criminal court in Fairfield?

Yes — Fairfield is the county seat, so the court is here.

Do I have to appear in court myself?

For most misdemeanours an attorney can appear on your behalf. Felonies generally require your presence. Which applies depends on the charge, so it is worth asking early rather than assuming.

What does defending a dui case in Fairfield cost?

It depends on the charge, whether it is a misdemeanour or a felony, and whether the case is likely to resolve or be tried. Call and I will tell you what representation in your situation would cost before you commit to anything. For the general picture, see what a criminal defence lawyer costs in California.

The Law Offices of Christopher Parkhurst exceeded my expectations. Attorney Kit Parkhurst was extremely responsive and professional from the very beginning. I contacted his office on behalf of a family member, and he responded within seconds to offer a free consultation. Remarkably, he was able to resolve the case the very same day.
All communication was handled efficiently by phone and email, and we did not even need to appear in court. He later called to confirm that the case was resolved and all charges had been dropped.
Attorney Parkhurst is highly knowledgeable, professional, friendly, compassionate, and honest. His pricing was also very affordable. I highly recommend his services to anyone in need of legal representation.

On Saturday April 3, 2026 I was arrested for a domestic violence charge and given my first court appearance on April 7, 2026

Due to the weekend and Easter I was unable to get help from an attorney. When I called and found Kit on Monday April 6, 2026, he immediately picked up the phone and assured me I was in good hands and could help.

Kit could hear my stress level and told me several times everything would be fine. Kit then explained his plan of action and on April 7, 2026 at 1100 hours Kit called me stating he spoke to the DA and the charges would not be filed.

If it wasn't for Kit's approach, knowledge and claming personality not sure what my outcome would of been.

I hope no ever gets fasley arrested, but if you do, do not hesitate to call Kit and let him work for you.

Lastly I just want thank God for bringing this talented, non-judgemental Attorney into my life when I needed someone to help.

I found myself in a situation where I was facing charges.
The morning after Christmas I had arraignment and was petrified of what was about to happen.
I called several Law offices, Chris picked up and quickly gave me a huge feeling of relief.
He knew what was happening in the back scenes and explained how we should go about figuring it out.
He made one phone call and informed me my case was dropped.
I truly can't thank him enough!
What a great guy, I would recommend him to anyone.
I wanted to post on all channels, it's beyond real and deserved.

Seriously Chris you went out of your way to help me and I appreciate it so much! Ill never forget it.
